The 168 acres of newly flooded marsh at Akeley Swamp in Warren County will be a welcome site to many migrants returning south to their wintering grounds. Akeley Swamp is once again flourishing with activity due to the successful partnership of the Pennsylvania Game Commission, U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service, North American Wetlands Conservation Council, PA Department of Environmental Protection, Warren County Association of Sportsman Clubs and Ducks Unlimited working together to achieve a common goal. Akeley Swamp will be managed for waterfowl, shorebirds, and other wetland-associated species, with an emphasis on providing foraging areas during the spring and fall migrations.
